Abstract


Chapter 2 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 57, no. 1) introduces the R programming language and RStudio’s integrated development environment (IDE). It guides a reader through installation steps for R and RStudio and recommends resources for learning R. The chapter also provides a general workflow for basic visualization in RStudio, presents R packages essential for creating plots, and discusses strategies for choosing graphic representations of data that serve specific analytical tasks. The last section considers what can be visualized in a digital collection.
