Chapter 4. Third-Party Platforms

Abstract


Increasingly, third-party applications are a significant component utilized by libraries as they provide patron services and information content. Their utilization, however, represents a critical shift for libraries, as libraries are no longer the sole gatekeepers of private patron data. Many library privacy policies address considerations library patrons should be aware of as they utilize the spectrum of library services, many of which are not under the administrative control of the library
