Chapter 3. Why Data Is Collected and How It Is Used

Abstract


In the process of collecting data, it’s important to consider why the data is collected and how it is used. Transactional data is often collected in association with normal library operations and by the electronic systems supporting those operations. Other data can be collected and used for various purposes. Library privacy policies provide insights into why data is collected and how it is used.
