Chapter 4. Digital Citizenship, Digital Legacy, and School Librarians

April Dawkins

Abstract

In chapter 4 of Library Technology Reports (vol. 56, no. 5), “Digital Legacy,” Dawkins discusses the role that school librarians play in providing K–12 digital citizenship education, examines standards that focus on digital citizenship, and provides advice on how to integrate discussions on digital legacy. Dawkins’s chapter includes the role of school librarians in digital literacy and citizenship education, what digital citizenship instruction currently involves, the lack of digital legacy inclusion as part of digital citizenship education, and finally a section on introducing the concept of digital legacy with different age groups.
