Chapter 2. Selection and Procurement Strategies

Abstract

The strategy for selecting and implementing a library services platform differs from what libraries may have experienced previously in the procurement of an integrated library system. Library services platforms come primarily as hosted services, replace multiple incumbent products, and manage different categories of resources. Those interested in open source options, such as Kuali OLE, will follow a much different set of processes than those licensing commercial products.
