Spaces of Belonging: Building Connected Communities via Library Partnerships and Collaborations
Abstract
In academic libraries, outreach and programming are strategic efforts designed to engage students,
connect them with campus communities, and promote library resources and services.
Targeted and specialized outreach programming with underserved students at ethnically diverse
universities can contribute to student success. This article presents a case study that focuses on
library collaborations and partnerships with affinity-based student success centers that primarily serve
underrepresented student communities. Strategies for building inclusive collaborations and sustaining
partnerships from the experiences of a librarian and a student ambassador are also shared in this
article. These initiatives may be applicable to other institutions seeking to
connect them with campus communities, and promote library resources and services.
